Where Science Lives.
2027 is when it all begins.
The new space for science and interaction at TU Berlin.
TULIUM – the new knowledge transfer and exhibition building. TULIUM brings research to life on the TU Berlin campus, both indoors and outdoors, through exhibitions and open spaces designed for exchange and interaction.
Construction began in spring 2025, with the opening planned for 2027.
The project is funded by the federal and state governments as part of the Joint Task for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures (GRW).
Mineralogical Collections
The collections rank amongst the world’s most significant geological collections: over 200,000 items spanning 245 years of collecting history, including one of the most important mineral collections from Namibia and the largest meteorite on display in Germany.
Where do they come from? Who collects what, and why? At TULIUM, the minerals serve as a starting point for questions that extend far beyond the collections themselves.
Follow the Construction
Time-lapse of the construction site: over several months the pavilion’s timber structure rises from the pit between the trees, accompanied by crane and scaffolding. Filmed from a neighbouring roof, without sound.
Forward-looking architecture
TULIUM is built to conserve resources, designed with a modular approach and developed through a participatory process. The structural framework and foundations are consistently based on reuse: a load-bearing system made from reclaimed timber and a ‘floating foundation’ that does not require a sealing concrete floor slab.
Inside, clay, natural fibre insulation and timber regulate the climate, largely without the need for ventilation or air conditioning. The outdoor area becomes a green space for relaxation and socialising, including a café.
The pavilion is a flagship project for circular construction and a real-world laboratory for the Natural Building Lab.

Knowledge Hubs
Interactive Knowledge Hubs line the route across the campus and visibly bring content to life for visitors to the campus.
Each of the 14 hubs poses a question – ranging from ‘Everyday life with a climate impact?’ to ‘A future without plastic?’ – as a starting point for exploring TU Berlin.
Scanning the QR code opens the Knowledge Hubs app, where users can discover short scrollable stories, augmented content, games or videos featuring researchers from TU Berlin. The topics range from sustainability and artificial intelligence to climate adaptation and mobility.
This brings research to life, right in the heart of the campus, right in the heart of the city.

Become part of TULIUM
TULIUM is being established with around 19 million euros in funding from the federal and state governments. Every donation helps create further highlights:
- Temporary exhibitions that bring research to life in an interactive way.
- Programmes introducing the collections.
- Interactive Knowledge Hubs on campus.
Every donation makes science more accessible, more engaging and more sustainable.
